What I Want to Write About…

WATCHMEN: Opening Night at the Cinerama

tv, books, & films

So it’s 38 degrees out (wind chill feels a lot worse), and we’ve been in line for a couple hours for tonight’s sold-out 12:01 am Watchmen. Vasant and I, along with my sister Mary and her boyfriend Matt have been here ridiculously early, at the freaking front of the line. I’ve never been here at the front. Usually, I always show up too late for these Cinerama premieres and get lousy seats. Not tonight!!

Thought, while I wait for the next couple hours, I’d upload some of the pictures I’ve gotten.

Awesome people have shown up to keep us company, which is of course, WHY you go to the Cinerama! DSC_0210.PV7HH1mSubCZ.jpg

See Matt as Rorshach and “Rorshach” as Rorshach after the jump…

Matt dressed up as Walter Kovac, Rorshach’s dayjob as a bum on the streets of New York. For a while, it was just him, but then… there were two:

An awesome guy showed up in FULL Rorshach costume! We nicknamed him NightJob and Matt was designated DayJob. They started patrolling the line as the night went on, “boosting moral” so to speak.

Yeah, the people who come to the midnight showings at the Cinerama are the people I love! Tried and true geeks who aren’t afraid to be crazy in love with good movies. Yeah, this is why I’m here in the cold.

DayJob and NightJob Rorshachs appreciate the loss of the SQUID.

We’re all hoping the movie will be as awesome as we hear the fanboy sites say it is. Honestly, I’d rather listen to people like Peter @ / Film and Alex at Firstshowing than Variety. But that’s just me.

I’ll update a little later, depending on whether or not my fingers aren’t too stiff from the cold.

Oh and updated pictures, right before the show:

This guy was so much fun to hang out with! He’s a seasoned costumer, mainly for Star Wars events, but yeah- his costume was flawless and we had a lot of fun, the four of us, hanging out with him and other cinephiles talking about all things geeky!

The movie was great, it had several flaws, but overall a very satisfying film. More on that later… it’s 4 am and I’m off to watch something funny and then hit the hay.

    • @davidswinney It may not have. Mine glitched several times- it showed I had no RT's once (either by me or others). Contact their help team. 02:44:18 PM September 06, 2010 from webin reply to davidswinney
